The Living Truth Seventh day Adventist Company started life as the West London church plant. The London (South) church was overcrowded and there was talk of a church plant for a few years. On May 12, 2014 the London Church Board moved to action to develop a church plant in West London by September 2014; with a recommendation to take a portion of members residing in the west part of London and prepare to offer worship services in a second location in West London. A church “transplant” was initiated. Pastor Pastor Alex Golovenko was the lead pastor at the London SDA church.
The group was formed on August 30, 2014 with about 35 people. The first gathering took place on October 4, 2014. The first sermon was preached by Elder Mike Keim. The very next Sabbath October 11 the Church Plant celebrated its first Communion with 32 participants. From October 25-November 1, the West Group conducted the first Evangelistic series with Pastor James Rooney “Hope for a Crazy World”.
The inaugural Sabbath was designated for January 2015 and on January 10 with Conference Director Eustace Williams in attendance, 29 members signed the covenantal agreement as charter members. Elections were held and by February elders, deacons, and other departments were functional.
By the spring of 2015 the West Group was recognized by the conference and new leaders emerged. George Perez became the Group leader, Angelina Polihronova took responsibility as Administrative coordinator, sorting out schedules, correspondence, and organizing details of weekly worship, and Maria Carcamo took care of finances, collection and remittance to the London South Church treasury. Isabel Perez volunteered to produce weekly bulletins.
The most memorable was the house church experience of journeying through the Spiritual Gift discovery. We called it “Discovery Groups” as we learned more about each other and our mission.
We did not want to be known as the West London church, as the title appeared on our first bulletins. In June 2015 names were gathered and a vote taken that gave us Living Truth Seventh day Adventist Company. Initial roster of 21 possible names did not have a combination “Living Truth.” There was Living Bible, Living Stones, Present Truth, Pillar of Truth, and other names. After prayerful reading of suggested names the group chose the Living Truth as its identity on June 20th as we celebrated Lord’s Supper together.
In July 2015 the group moved to the Oakridge Presbyterian church, after 9 months at the Mt. Zion Church. At the Oakridge Church we obtained the Upper Room to be a more visible church on a main London road. The Oakridge Presbyterian Church opened their doors to us with an excellent relationship.
Summer church meetings ended with regular potlucks at the park nearby, drawing friends and families for fellowship. It led to monthly Visitor’s Sabbaths tradition. Living Truth became an official church company on December 5, 2015. And Pastor Alex Golovenko was replaced with Pastor James Rooney in January 2016.
Our church celebrates the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ and the power of God to change lives. We do believe that we good wants us to be healthy spiritually, emotional, mentally, cognitively and physically. We practice healthy living and acknowledge the benefits of a plant based lifestyle. We provide community focus health programs including Diabetes Undone and Depression the Way Out.
Our goal now is to obtain church status and to someday have our own church building.
